Income Tax
Income Tax setup controls the tax calculation used when Payroll generates salary records.
Income Tax Years
Section titled “Income Tax Years”| Field | Use |

| Start Date | First date in the tax year. |
| End Date | Last date in the tax year. |
| Is Active | Makes the tax year available to payroll calculation. |

Income Tax Slabs
Section titled “Income Tax Slabs”| Field | Use |

| Tax Year | Tax year that owns the slab. |
| Min Income | Inclusive lower annual income boundary. |
| Max Income | Upper annual income boundary. Blank means the highest open-ended slab. |
| Fixed Amount | Fixed tax amount for the slab. |
| Tax Rate | Percentage applied to income above the slab minimum. |
| Slab Order | Ordering of the slab. |
| Description | Optional notes. |
Calculation behavior
Section titled “Calculation behavior”Payroll uses the active income tax year and its slabs. The calculation projects taxable income across the tax year, subtracts tax already deducted, and withholds the remaining tax across remaining months.
Tax is rounded to whole rupees by default.
Payroll generation is blocked when no active income tax year is available.
Validation
Section titled “Validation”- End date must be after start date.
- A future tax year cannot be activated before it starts.
- Tax rates must be between 0 and 100.
- Slab maximum income must be greater than minimum income when provided.
